First Aid

This American Red Cross First Aid course prepares participants to recognize and respond to common injuries and sudden illnesses until professional medical help arrives. Through instructor-led discussion, demonstrations, and hands-on skills practice, students gain the confidence to act quickly, safely, and effectively in an emergency.
Participants will learn how to assess an emergency scene, protect themselves and others from further harm, obtain additional help, and provide appropriate first aid care. Topics include caring for bleeding, burns, injuries to muscles, bones, and joints; responding to sudden illnesses such as fainting, seizures, diabetic emergencies, allergic reactions, heat- and cold-related illnesses, and poisoning; and recognizing when emergency medical services should be activated.

This course is appropriate for workplace employees, childcare providers, teachers, coaches, caregivers, safety teams, and anyone who wants practical skills to help family members, coworkers, clients, or community members in an emergency. Successful participants receive an American Red Cross First Aid certification, valid for two years, subject to course format and current Red Cross requirements.
