This is a non-refundable class

This is a hybrid course. You will do a portion of the class online and half in person. Online must be completed prior to the first day of the class. No exceptions will be made.

Lifeguarding participants must complete the required swimming skills prerequisite on the day of the course. The prerequisite skills assessments include a swim-tread-swim and a timed event sequence.

  • Swim 150 yards consistently, tread water for 2 minutes without using arms, and swim 50 yards.
  • Swim 20 yards, submerge 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound brick, swim to the starting point holding the brick (on your back), and climb out of the pool. 1 min 40 sec

Throughout the course, participants will learn and be evaluated on knowledge and skills related to Lifeguarding, water rescues, extractions, CPR, AED, and First Aid.

Students are allowed one attempt at the prerequisites; if unable to pass, the student will be asked to leave with no refunds.

In addition, after the course, participants must complete three final skills assessments:

  • Rotate in-conduct surveillance – rotate out
  • Timed Single-rescuer CPR Scenario
  • Multiple Rescuer Response Scenario

Participants must take one final written exam consisting of 50 questions and score at least 80%.

Upon successful completion of the Lifeguarding certification course, participants will be awarded a certification that reflects the specific Lifeguarding course they completed. For instance, those who complete the Lifeguarding (including Deep Water) with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid, will receive a certification that is valid for 2 years.
